The
M5112 standard locator and cranial spinal cord injury instrument are
devices that utilize the principle of free fall, consisting of a
standard stereotaxic locator, spinal cord adapter, free fall impactor,
weights, and firing pins. They are mainly used to create animal models
of cranial injury.
By using a brain locator to fix the animal's head
or a spinal cord adapter to fix the animal's spine without any relative
movement, the 3D manipulator arm is moved to accurately locate the
impact site. Then, using the principle of free fall, different weights
and limit devices are selected to precisely control the impact position
and force, causing varying degrees of damage to the animal's skull,
brain, and spinal cord. It can create highly repetitive brain
injury/spinal cord injury models without the need for computer software
control, and has the characteristics of simple operation, strong
practicality, and high cost-effectiveness. Mainly used in neuroscience
research to establish experimental models for small animals such as
mice, rats, and guinea pigs.
